Description
1) Objective
As part of the micro-projects program, the German missions abroad have the opportunity to promote measures respond to the needs of the most vulnerable groups directly invoice. It is important that the beneficiary population makes a direct contribution to the success of the project, often in the form of manpower. Examples of projects that have been funded include: (1) reforestation with fruit trees; (2) establishment of training centers; (3) supply of drinking water; (4) basic equipment of children’s homes.
Projects that help to strengthen vulnerable groups are preferred (women, young people at risk of exclusion, children, people with different abilities, etc.). Preference will be given to projects in the following areas: (1) education (support for construction and / or remodeling of schools); (2) promotion of culture of peace (innovative projects and activities of education for peace); (3) sanitation (construction of drains, wells, etc.); and (4) renewable energies (saving stoves, panels solar, etc).
2) Eligibility
Non-profit organisations are eligible to apply.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Guatemala and Belize.
4) Budget
The Embassy Guatemala supports around 15 projects with a total of €90,000 allocated by the Foreign Ministry annually. The financial support of the Embassy may an amount of €25,000. The project should be completed during the same year. Salaries cannot be funded as well as computers, land purchase or vehicles. The Embassy can not cover personal expenses such as salaries (for example for educators, facilitators, etc.) of the institution although they are related to the presented project. It also does not finance the acquisition of computers, or vehicles, or the purchase of land, fertilizers, seeds, plants, etc. The Embassy of Germany can not cover recurring expenses (such as consumer goods) or expenses related to the execution of a workshop / training (such as honorarium, lodging, food or per diem for the participants).

Applicants are encouraged to access the application form provided on their website. Applications are received between October 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024.
