Description
1) Objective
The overall objective of this call for proposals is: Support and empower civil society in its actions to protect, promote democracy, human rights, the rule of law, gender equality and fundamental freedoms in Equatorial Guinea.
This call for proposals is divided into 2 lots with three specific objectives per lot: The specific objectives of this call for proposals are:
- Specific objectives of lot 1 CSOs:
- SO 1: Strengthen the commitment and capacities of local CSOs and the media
independent to participate in policy dialogue at the local and national level
SO 2: Strengthen the capacities of local women’s and youth CSOs to participate in decision-making processes, as well as to promote gender equality and youth inclusion
SO 3: Enhance the capacity and ability of local civil society partners to maintain and promote an enabling environment
- SO 1: Strengthen the commitment and capacities of local CSOs and the media
- Specific objectives of lot 2 Human Rights:
- SO 1: Strengthen the capacities of civil society so that they can effectively defend the rule of law and the principle of habeas corpus, as well as promote (i) the equitable satisfaction of basic needs and (ii) the conduct of dialogues social
Promote access to all fundamental rights with special attention to the protection and promotion of gender equality, and the fight against discrimination, inequality and exclusion - SO 2: Provide support to human rights organizations and promote access to effective protection for human rights defenders and their families
- SO 3: Strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations and human rights defenders in defense, legal advice, and public awareness.
- SO 1: Strengthen the capacities of civil society so that they can effectively defend the rule of law and the principle of habeas corpus, as well as promote (i) the equitable satisfaction of basic needs and (ii) the conduct of dialogues social
2) Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must: (1) be a legal person and (2) be non-profit-making and (3) be a civil society organisation; and (4) be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Equatorial Guinea.
4) Budget
The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is €4,655,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum €500,000 and maximum €1,000,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum (80%) and maximum (100%) percentage of total eligible costs of the action. The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 36 months nor exceed 48 months.

The concept note together with the declaration by the lead applicant must be submitted online via PROSPECT. The deadline for the submission is 30 June 2023.
