Description
1) Objective
The global objective of this call for proposals is to strengthen civil society organisations’ capacities to promote and protect women’s rights, freedom of expression and independent media.
- LOT 1: Enhance women’s rights and inclusion at all levels. The specific objectives of LOT 1 are:
– Strengthen the capacities of local CSOs to contribute to the inclusion of individuals, specifically targeting women and girls, in all aspects of the socio-economic, political and cultural life.
– Protect and empower individuals, contributing to the full enjoyment of all human rights, be they civil, political, economic, social or cultural rights, with a particular focus on women and girls. - LOT 2: Freedom of expression and independent media. The specific objectives of LOT 2 are:
– Strengthen the capacities of journalists and media to enhance the freedom of expression and enable an environment more supportive of independent media.
– Protect and empower individuals working in the media environment from the persistent risks and violations of their rights.
– Contribute to countering misinformation and the misuse of digital technologies, especially when used against the freedom of expression, media workers and to the detriment of human rights defenders, women’s rights organisations and/or humanitarian and development workers.
2) Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must: (1) be a legal person and (2) be non-profit-making and (3) be a specific type of organisation, such as a non-governmental organisation and (4) be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Yemen.
4) Budget
The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is €3,447,608. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum €450,000 and maximum €1,250,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum (50%) and maximum (90%) percentage of total eligible costs of the action.
5) Application
The concept note together with the declaration by the lead applicant must be submitted online via PROSPECT. The deadline for the submission is 10 May 2024.
