Description
1) Objective
The U.S. Consulate General in Erbil of the U.S. Department of State has announced a grant opportunity to support civil society groups in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region (IKR). This omnibus grant aims to build capacity among diverse groups with six distinct objectives: connecting law school students with civil society organizations (CSOs) through paid internships, providing training for human rights NGOs in advocacy and fundraising, training journalists and journalism students in effective tradecraft and ethics, enhancing knowledge of modern water management techniques among environmental CSOs, organizing symposiums for water management and environmental science academics, and training educators to better support students with disabilities.
Each program must include American cultural elements to promote bilateral cooperation and understanding of U.S. policies and perspectives.
Eligible applicants include nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (excluding higher education institutions), nonprofits without 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (excluding higher education institutions), public and state-controlled institutions of higher education, and private institutions of higher education.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Iraq.
4) Budget
The estimated total program funding is $250,000, with an award ceiling of $250,000 and an award floor of $150,000. Only one award is expected to be made.
