Description

1) Objective

Founded in 1952, the Fluor Foundation is funded by corporate contributions and endowment earnings of Fluor company. The Foundation has various giving programs, including (1) the ‘Fluor Matching Gifts Program’ (matching employee contributions dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000 per year per employee); (2) an ‘Employee Giving Program’ (through employees volunteering volunteering their time or raise money for the communities Fluor works); and (3) a grant-making program for organisations around the world where the company has a presence.

For grant-making, the Foundation’s programmatic focus areas are education, social services, community and economic development, and the environment.

2) Eligibility

Only 501(c)(3) and Canadian Revenue Agency registered organisations and public schools are eligible.

3) Location

Grants are provided for initiatives around the world where the company has a presence. This includes Latin America and the Caribbean (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Puerto Rico, and Trinidad & Tobago), Eastern Asia (China, Japan, and Korea), Central Asia (Kazakhstan), South and Southeastern Asia (India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand), the Middle East (Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates), and Eastern Europe (Poland and Russia).

4) Budget

The Foundation has an annual funding volume of around $10,000,000. On occasion, they will award grants in the $200,000 to $300,000. However, most tend to fall in the $10,000 to $25,000 range.

5) Application

In general, Fluor does not accept unsolicited grants. They encourage you to speak to the Community Affairs representative at the Fluor office or project site in your community to discuss opportunities for engagement. If you feel that your organisation qualifies and is fully aligned with at least one of giving priorities above, then please review the grant guidelines carefully before starting the application process. Grant applications must be received online through the grant portal. The application includes narrative sections that ask for a summary of the organisation, a description of the proposed project for which funding is being requested and output and impact details that would be made possible as a result of funding from Fluor as well as budget details. Grant requests are reviewed periodically throughout the year and responses are generally sent within 90 days.
