Description
1) Objective
Founded in 2010 by Tony O. Elumelu CON, the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) is a foremost African philanthropic organisation. The Tony Elumelu Foundation believes that the private sector holds the key to unlocking Africa’s economic potential. To that end, its mission is to catalyse economic and social development in Africa through entrepreneurship. The Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program is a 12-week programme to equip 1,000 start-ups annually with the basic skills required to launch and run their businesses at the early stage of their growth.
Its vision is to establish the pre-eminent pan-African entrepreneurship programme and create 10,000 startups across Africa within the next 10 years that generate significant employment and wealth. It includes mentoring, seed funding and technical assistance. It offers to successful applicants: (1) the online live-learning support; (2) web mentoring; (3) immersive boot camp; (4) resource library; (5) global entrepreneurship forum; (6) seed funding and (7) membership of the alumni network.
2) Eligibility
The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme is open to Africans from all 54 African countries with scalable business ideas or businesses from 0 – 5 years.
3) Location
Any country in Africa is eligible.
4) Budget
A seed capital of $5,000 is provided as returnable capital.
5) Application
Each programme cycle begins with applications from January 1st until March 1st. Selection of TEEP start-ups takes place in the month of March. Application is done online.
