Description

1) Objective

Established in 1913, the vision of the British Ecological Society (BES) is for a world inspired, informed and influenced by ecology. With a mission to generate, communicate and promote ecological knowledge and solutions, they have various strategic goals: (1) communicate world-leading ecological science; (2) generate, synthesise and exchange ecological knowledge; (3) share the excitement and relevance of ecology; (4) inspire, engage and recognise talent; and (5) build a sustainable, resilient and efficient society.

The Training & Travel Grants help PhD students and postgraduate research assistants to meet the costs of specialist field training courses and to network and publicise their research by presenting their work at workshops and conferences.

2) Eligibility

All applicants are required to: be a BES member; have at least a B.Sc. or equivalent degree; use an institutional email address in order to apply; be a PhD student, postgraduate research assistant (within 3 years of completing relevant degree) or equivalent; work or study at a university or research institution (including field centres, NGOs, museums, etc.) that provide research facilities.

3) Location

Actions can take place in various countries worldwide.

4) Budget

Grants of up to £1,000 are available.

5) Application

Applicants need to use the online grants system. There are two deadlines in 2024: 25 January and 25 July.
