Description
1) Objective
The Tusk Conservation Awards, in partnership with Investec Asset Management, gives a chance to celebrate extraordinary people, whose work and lives might otherwise go unnoticed outside their fields. Their work with wildlife and communities in Africa safeguards the future for us all. There are 3 awards:
- (1) Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa- a lifetime achievement award, which recognises outstanding dedication and exceptional contribution to conservation in Africa;
- (2) Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa- this award is for an individual who has been judged to be emerging as a leading conservationist and in recognition of their outstanding contribution to conservation and considerable success shown in their chosen field;
- (3) Tusk Wildlife Ranger Award- This award is to give international recognition to the men and women who work in the field protecting wildlife in Africa on a daily basis.
2) Eligibility
Individuals with experience in wildlife conservation are eligible to apply. They must have a proven positive conservation impact for wildlife and communities. Their work must be based in Africa. They must act as a role model and provide a level of mentorship and whose ideas are replicable or scalable in-country and across the continent.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Africa.
4) Budget
Awards sizes vary: (1) for the Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa the winner receives a grant of £100,000 towards their work; (2) for the Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa the winner receives a grant of £75,000 towards their work. The two finalists each receive a grant of £20,000; (3) for the Tusk Wildlife Ranger Award the winner receives a grant of £30,000.
5) Application
The pre nomination form must be submitted no later than 12 April 2024. It is done via the online form on their website.
