Description
1) Objective
The U.S. Embassy Banjul Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program. This is an Annual Program Statement, outlining our funding priorities, the strategic themes they focus on, and the procedures for submitting requests for funding. PAS in Banjul, The Gambia invites proposals for programs that strengthen cultural ties between the U.S. and The Gambia through cultural and exchange programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. All programs must include an American cultural element, or connection with American expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives. Priority Program Areas are: (1) strengthening Democratic Institutions; (2) empowering Civil Society; (3) bolstering education; and (4) improving the capacity of Gambians to lead the country’s development.
PAS Small Grants Program programs includes: (1) academic and professional lectures, seminars and speaker programs; (2) artistic and cultural workshops, joint performances and exhibitions; (3) cultural heritage conservation and preservation programs; (4) professional and academic exchanges and programs; (5) academic clubs focusing on extracurricular activities and student achievement; (6) professional training for journalists; and (7) social movement programs to Programs to support political transparency.
2) Eligibility
Eligible applicants are: (1) registered not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations with programming experience; (2) individuals; (3) non-profit media organizations; (4) professional Trade organizations; and (5) non-profit or governmental educational institutions.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Gambia.
4) Budget
The total award amount is $100,000. Maximum award amount is $25,000 and minimum award amount is $250. Length of performance period is 3 to 24 months. Number of awards anticipated is 5 awards.
5) Application
All application materials must be submitted by email to PublicDiplomacyBanjul(a)state.gov. Applications may be submitted for consideration at any time before the closing date of August 15, 20120.
