Description
1) Objective
The U.S. Embassy’s Public Affairs Section (PAS) in Jakarta invites proposals for projects that further and support the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the U.S. through educational, cultural, informational, and media programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. All programs must include an American cultural or media-related element, or a connection with American expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives.
Examples of small grants projects include but are not limited to:
· Academic and professional lectures, seminars, and expert speaker programs;
· Professional and academic exchanges and projects;
· Professional development workshops and training;
· Artistic and cultural workshops, joint performances, and exhibitions; and
· Cultural heritage conservation and preservation projects.
Priority Program Areas may include, but are not limited to:
- Shared Values and Interests: activities that promote the U.S.-Indonesia strategic partnership and build people-to-people ties through enhanced understanding of U.S. policies, culture, and values, including democratic governance, freedom of speech, tolerance and diversity, respect for the rule of law among specific Indonesian audiences.
- Security and Defense: activities that promote security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region; promote respect for international law including maritime law; combat transnational, regional, and global challenges, including cybersecurity, terrorism, and violent extremism; and encourage identification of and resistance to malign influence and disinformation.
- Prosperity, Trade, and Investment: activities that promote economic cooperation between the U.S. and Indonesia, encourage a nuanced understanding of U.S. trade policies, support the expansion of U.S. exports and investments, improve connections between U.S. and Indonesian businesses, and/or expand economic opportunities for women, youth, and underserved populations; and promote entrepreneurship.
- Technology and Innovation: activities that support cooperation in such areas as public health and medical fields, agricultural technology, cybersecurity, and space exploration.
- Education and Human Capacity: activities that promote exchanges and student mobility for U.S. and Indonesian students, educational partnerships and cooperation between U.S. and Indonesian higher education institutions, human capital development, and training opportunities for U.S. and Indonesian higher education and vocational students.
2) Eligibility
Embassy Jakarta welcomes applications from: (1) U.S.-based and Indonesia-based non-profit organizations/nongovernment organizations (NGOs); (2) U.S.-based and Indonesia-based public, non-profit, private, or state institutions of higher education; and (3) Public International Organizations / Public Entity. For-profit or commercial entities are not eligible to apply. Individual applicants are not eligible to apply.

Actions must take place in Indonesia.
4) Budget
Awards may range from a minimum of $30,000 to a maximum of $100,000.
