Description
1) Objective
Public Affairs Section PANAMA invites proposals for programs that strengthen cultural ties between the U.S. and PANAMA through cultural and exchange programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. All programs must include an American cultural element, or connection with American expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives. Examples of PAS Small Grants Program programs include, but are not limited to: (1) Academic and professional lectures, seminars and speaker programs; (2) Artistic and cultural workshops, joint performances and exhibitions; (3) Cultural heritage conservation and preservation programs; (4) Professional and academic exchanges and programs; and (5) Community engagement or student programs on entrepreneurship, STEM education.
Main Objectives of the U.S. Embassy in Panama are: (1) Make our Extended Borders More Secure; (2) Protect the American Citizen and Business Communities; (3) Help Make Panamanian Institutions More Resilient, Transparent and Democratic; and (4) Promote More Open and Sustainable Economic Growth. The Public Affairs Section will prioritize projects that: (1) Improve STEM and English education in Panama; (2) Reinforce journalistic standards to counter disinformation and support freedom of information; and (3) Encourage inclusion and diversity through engagement with marginalized populations, women, and minorities to reduce economic inequality.
2) Eligibility
Eligible applicants are: Registered Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/nongovernmental organizations; Universities and educational institutions; Governmental institutions; and Individuals.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Panama.
4) Budget
Award amount ranges from $1,000-$75,000. Length of performance period is Up to 12 months.
5) Application
All application materials must be submitted by e-mail to PanCultural(a)state.gov. Applications may be submitted for consideration at any time before the closing date of June 30, 2020.
