1)  Objective

UN Women is inviting civil society organizations (CSOs), CSO networks, professional organizations or think tanks that are legally registered in North Macedonia and have specialized knowledge, expertise and track record of working on gender equality, empowerment of women and participatory processes, to submit project proposals that will contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the project “Promoting Gender Responsive Policies and Budgets: Towards Transparent, Inclusive and Accountable Governance in Republic of North Macedonia” – phase 2. The project is expected to contribute to Outcome 2: Women and civil society organizations exercise their voice, agency and leadership in decision-making and budgeting processes; and more specifically to the achievement of Output 2.2: Women and civil society organizations have strengthened capacities to voice their needs and advocate for increased accountability and financing for gender equality.

The proposed interventions are expected to empower local women and work on strengthening their skills to influence budgeting processes by ensuring wide reach-out in targeted municipalities and communities, with particular focus on the most excluded (women with disabilities, women from a disadvantaged socio-economic background, single mothers, women from different ethnic minorities). Furthermore, the planned interventions should be focused on fostering inclusive policy planning and prioritization based on the specific needs and issues raised by women.

2) Eligibility

Eligible are CSOs. Please note that consortia of CSOs are strongly encouraged to apply.

3) Location

Actions must take place in North Macedonia. To ensure wide reach out and fair geographical coverage with interventions aimed at increasing women’s participation in local planning and budgeting processes, applicants/proponents should submit project proposals covering municipalities in the following 4 planning regions: Polog, Southwestern, Pelagonia and Vardar.

4) Budget

The budget range for this proposal should be $100,000-$120,000.

5) Application

The application deadline is 11 September 2023.
