Silvia Weninger

1) Objective

USAID/Zimbabwe is seeking applications from Zimbabwean civil society organizations and disabled people’s organizations to submit concept papers for funding under the Bureau for Development, Democracy, and Innovation (DDI)’s FY2020 Notice of Funds Availability (NOFA). The NOFA is for Disability Funding to support programming in the area of Employment and Economic Empowerment (EEE). Proposed projects should seek to: (1) increase the participation of people with disabilities in ongoing USAID programs/activities; (2) strengthen the capacity and leadership of civil society organizations run by and for people with disabilities; herein referred to as disabled people’s organizations (DPOs).

USAID is committed to empowering Zimbabweans and helping them create economic opportunities to meet their social and economic needs and aspirations, live decent lives, and become self-reliant. Through locally led development, USAID/Zimbabwe aims to empower persons with disabilities (PWDs) to identify and solve their own development challenges through inclusive approaches that also facilitate their contributions to meeting Zimbabwe’s development challenges. For USAID, development is locally led when local actors are empowered to lead priority-setting, decision-making, management, measurement, and other processes through which development assistance contributes toward improving systems and outcomes for development.
