Description
1) Objective
Over fourteen years into the Syrian crisis, there has been a notable decrease in donor funding for WASH activities supporting Syrian refugees in Lebanon, particularly as new emergencies—including conflicts in Ukraine, Sudan, and Gaza, and drought conditions in the Horn of Africa—have taken precedence. Consequently, UNICEF must collaborate with partners capable of delivering essential services to the most vulnerable populations at the required standard and with maximum cost efficiency, while also adopting innovative approaches to reduce future operational expenditures where feasible. Within the constraints of available budgets, it is necessary to prioritize activities and maintain a focused approach targeting the most at-risk families.
UNICEF is confident that NGO partners possess critical insights regarding their designated Lot areas and can leverage this expertise to develop proposals and identify optimal, cost-effective solutions. Partners are requested to address the following three main priorities within their proposals:
- Priority 1: Ensure access to a minimum of 20 litres of safe water per capita per day, in addition to ensuring appropriate desludging frequency.
- Priority 2: Implement relevant hygiene promotion and community engagement initiatives, with an emphasis on innovation.
- Priority 3: Invest in water supply and sanitation solutions that contribute to more sustainable and cost-effective WASH service provision in the future.
