Water Resources Management for Enhanced Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WRM-WASH)

1) Objective

In ROUND 6 entitled “Water Resources Management for Enhanced Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WRM-WASH)”, of the New Partnership Initiative (NPI) Global Health (GH) Annual Program Statement (APS) No. 7200AA19APS00013, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is making a special call for the submission of Concept Papers that incorporates interventions that will build upon and expand USAID’s efforts to reduce water borne diseases in Nigeria. It is the intent of WRM-WASH to diversify and broaden USAID’s partner base, as described in the NPI GH APS. WRM-WASH, Modalities 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the NPI GH APS. WRM-WASH aim to engage with and leverage the reach of new and underutilized1 local entities and partners, especially those that can leverage funding from sources other than USG to reduce water borne disease in Nigeria.

To achieve this purpose, the activity will target rural areas through support to sustainable, market-driven water supply, sanitation, and hygiene services within an integrated water resource management framework. Activities must address one or more of the following objectives:
1. Improve water supply and sanitation services delivery, and key hygiene behaviors, while addressing the spread of COVID-19;
2. Protect and improve watershed health and function.

2) Eligibility

Direct awards to new and underutilized organizations that are local entities in the host country(ies) in which the applicant is applying. Direct awards to new and underutilized organizations that are locally established partners (LEPs) in the host country(ies) in which the applicant is applying. Sub-awards to local new or underutilized partners via prime awardees serving in a limited mentorship role.

3) Location

Actions must take place in Nigeria.

4) Budget

Subject to the availability of funds, USAID intends to provide up to $10 million in total USAID funding to be allocated over five years. The target minimum award size is $2 million. USAID reserves the right to make or not to make awards through this APS ROUND 6.
