Description

1) Objective

STEG invites applications to the first call for proposals for Institutional Partner Grants (IPGs). STEG IPGs are awarded up to the value of £75,000 for 1 year with the possibility of renewal. They are designed for institutions who will be able to utilise funds to elevate the role of STEG themes within their research departments and PhD programmes. The partnerships between STEG and these institutions aim to broaden the scope of research conducted and facilitate activities that enable a broader impact from research, thereby enhancing the overall research programme and strengthening the STEG community.

In principle, IPGs cover the same substantive research themes, questions, and methodologies as LRGs and SRGs. However, they are meant for institutions, rather than individual research projects, which have a focused interest in STEG topics and who can leverage STEG funds to lead to a lasting, structural, institutional-level impact.

2) Eligibility

They welcome applications to IPG calls from institutions all over the world, and strongly encourage applications from institutions in lower-income countries, especially Sub-Saharan Africa, and institutions with a focused interest on STEG themes for whom these funds can have a high impact.

3) Location

Please note that an important criterion for funding of proposals is the relevance to policy in low-income countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. Proposals focused on middle- and/or high-income countries need to make a clear case for the relevance of the research to policy in specific low-income countries.

4) Budget

Grants range up to £75,000.

5) Application

Deadline for Expressions of Interest: 23:59 BST, 31 July 2025.
