Your application documents (narrative proposal, budget, Theory of Change, Logframe etc.) are an important step in your application process. It might be the first main impression that the donor gets of your project or program and your organisation in general. It is therefore important that you really get this right.

What is a proposal review?

A proposal review is a process in which we look at your application documents and edit the various sections as to make them “donor-fit”.

Which sections are you reviewing?

We check all sections of your proposal. This usually includes in a standard application: description of application and partners, problem statement, background, impact model or logic model, activities, sustainability, gender, environment, Value for Money, risk management, budget etc.

Will you edit the proposal?

Yes, we will directly edit the proposal. If we have further questions or comments, we will further add comments for you which you can then look at within your team and change accordingly.

Which criteria are you applying in your review?

We screen and check your proposal according to our long-standing experience on what makes a proposal successful. This includes but is not limited to: Is the proposal in alignment with the country/donor/sector policies and programs? Are the needs addressed adequately? Does the proposed solution solve the problem? Does the proposal satisfy the requirements of the solicitation? Is impact measurement sufficiently addressed? Does the work plan make sense? Is the proposed staffing and expertise persuasive? Does the budget match the work plan? Do you provide Value for Money?

Do you also check the specific donor and/or application guidelines?

Yes, we do. We will first study the donor profile (i.e. its giving preference, thematic interest or geographical reach) and also the specific application guidelines (i.e. sector priorities, funding volumes, application templates). Then we will give you feedback on how your proposal fits with all the criteria.

Which documents will you review?

We will review all the documents that you are planning to submit. This can include: narrative, budget (plus budget notes), Logframe, Theory of Change, reference projects, annexes, etc.

Is there a limit to the pages of the proposal?

The proposal review is usually for documents not longer than 10 pages. Please note that for documents with more pages we will need more time.

How long do you need for the review?

This depends on our workload but we try to work on a review within 10 working days.

Can you guarantee that you treat our documents confidential?

Yes, of course. We treat all your documents with 100% confidentiality, do not pass them on to any 3rd party and will never copy-paste proposal passages. If you wish, we are happy to sign a confidentiality agreement.
