Description
1) About
The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) is the operational unit of the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC). It is in charge of implementing bilateral programmes and projects in ADC’s partner countries and administers the budget earmarked for this. ADA is primarily engaged in sectors where it can bring its professional know-how and long-standing experience to bear in: (1) water supply and sanitation; (2) renewable energy and climate protection; (3) agriculture and forestry; (4) private sector & development; and (5) human security, human rights and rule of law. It attaches particular importance in all its programmes and projects to the equal participation of women, taking special account of the needs of children and persons with disabilities.

3) Focus Countries
The key regions and priority countries of Austrian Development Cooperation are: Caribbean, West Africa, Southern Africa, Himalaya, Danube Region/Western Balkans, Black Sea Region/South Caucasus and Palestinian Territories. Besides ADA also promotes initiatives in other developing countries.
4) Application Procedure
ADA runs various funding programs for civil society organisations (mostly Austrian organisations) as well as businesses. Individual Projects South/East has an annual submission deadline of 20 September and 20 March respectively. The maximum amount of funding contributed by ADA is €300,000 at a rate of up to 25-80% of the total project cost. Eligible for funding are projects which are aimed at poverty reduction and the protection of peace and human security. Framework Programmes have a duration of three years with a minimum annual budget of €300,000 for coherent and interrelated programme components with a common strategic development objective. ADA also funds feasibility studies (max. €20,000) and business partnerships (up to 50% of direct project costs but not exceeding €500,000) for Austrian/European businesses that want to set up business in the South.
