Description
1) About
The Dubai Award was established in 1995 under the directive of late Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, following the United Nations International Conference in Dubai. The Award reflects the policy and commitment of Dubai Government and the United Arab Emirates towards sustainable development of human settlements and protection of the environment on the basis of mutual international cooperation. There are annual Award cycles and there are various Award categories (i.e. Best Practices Award, Best Practices Transfer Award, University Research Award, Private Sector Award, and Personal Award) and prize money ranges from $15,000 to $30,000. The programmatic focus areas for the Award are: (1) sustainable shelter and community development; (2) sustainable urban and regional development; (3) and sustainable settlement management.

4) Application Procedure
The submission guidelines that specify the different Award categories and submission criteria can be downloaded from their website. The application process is entirely online and no email submissions or hard copies are accepted. All submissions shall be made in English. All submissions received will be acknowledged and assigned a reference number. The final funding decision is taken in March every year, when the Award jury meets.
