Description

1) About

The Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition (CVC) is a coalition of community leaders and non-governmental agencies that are advocates and service providers, working with and on behalf of Caribbean populations who are especially vulnerable to HIV infection or often forgotten in access to treatment and healthcare programs. They do (1) advocacy; (2) strengthen alliances and partnerships; and (3) social mobilisation and capacity building of partners. The Coalition supports the formation of regional and national networks of specific vulnerable groups, providing capacity building to new and existing networks. They also mobilise technical and financial resources to support the work of services provided by NGOs across the Caribbean helping to expand appropriate outreach, education and treatment services to key populations.

2) Thematic Interest

• Support for vulnerable/marginalised persons (e.g. sex workers, drug users, marginalised youth, etc.)
• Advocacy for the rights of marginalised groups
• Alliance building and partner strengthening

3) Focus Countries

The Coalition is mainly operating in Trinidad, Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Guyana and Suriname.

4) Application Procedure

They provide technical and financial support for local/grassroots organisations working with marginalised groups in their focus countries. For that they mostly launch open calls on their website. Other times they also provide support directly to different implementing partners.
