Description

1) About

With and For Girls recognises extraordinary girl-led and girl-centred groups and organisations around the world through an annual awards process that offers flexible funding alongside opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, accompaniment and profile raising. It was set up in 2014 by the following donors: Comic Relief, FRIDA, MamaCash, Nike Foundation, NoVo Foundation, Plan International UK, Purposeful, Stars Foundation, and the Global Fund for Children. The Collective supports organisations with flexible funding through a girl-led selection process. We annually award up to 25 inspiring organisations with flexible funding. The With and For Girls Collective also works with funders to leverage additional resources for girl-led and girl-centred groups. Each year, winning organisations are invited to an Awards week to connect with each other, meet key stakeholders and receive an Awards certificate.

2) Thematic Interest

  • Girls, women and gender
  • Women’s and girl’s rights and empowerment
  • Education and leadership
  • Gender-Based Violence and child marriage
  • Sexual and reproductive health rights

3) Focus Countries

They have no defined focus countries and have provided funding to projects/organisations is more than 50 countries across the globe.

4) Application Procedure

Their awards application process entails various stages. First, in May and June every year, nominations can be submitted. Nominated applicants are then invited to submit an expression of interest (EOI) and a visual application. Following this, eligibility checks are conducted. The long-list of possible nominees is then transformed into a shortlist. Shortlisted candidates are interviewed and the winners are nominated. This process usually takes until the end of the year. Every year, around 25 award winners are selected.
