Description
1) Objective
Finland will award the International Gender Equality Prize for the fifth time at an award ceremony in Tampere at the end of 2025. The prize is awarded to a person or an organisation that has made a significant international contribution to gender equality.
Gender equality is a core value for Finland. It has been essential in shaping and defining the way they have built their nation to achieve the success of today. Because 2017 was Finland’s 100th anniversary of independence, the Government decided this year would offer an excellent opportunity to establish the first International Gender Equality Prize.
2) Eligibility
Anyone is welcome to nominate a candidate for the prize. All the nominations will be submitted to a prize jury consisting of international experts. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health will make the final decision on the recipient of the prize.
3) Location
Actions can take place worldwide.
4) Budget
In 2025, the prize amounts to €300,000.
5) Application
Nominations for the 2025 International Gender Equality Prize are now open! You can submit your proposal until 1 June online.
