Description
1) Objective
The BOLT Grant Program by the Internet Society Foundation aims to enhance Internet connectivity and access through innovation. The program supports teams of creatives, technologists, researchers, and social/cultural workers in developing prototypes and pilots for innovative solutions. These projects should focus on reducing costs, promoting environmental sustainability, enhancing trust, being relevant to users, and fostering accessibility. The goal is to advance Internet development, improve global connectivity, and encourage responsible innovation.
2) Eligibility
Eligible applicants must be registered non-profit organizations equivalent to US 501(c)3 entities. Teams should be affiliated with organizations that align with the Internet Society’s mission of an open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy Internet for everyone. Projects must clearly address the BOLT program’s objectives and demonstrate the team’s capability to implement the project successfully.
3) Location
Actions can take place worldwide.
4) Budget
Grants of up to USD $300,000 are available for projects with a duration of up to 18 months. Funding supports the development of innovative methods, technologies, and infrastructure to enhance Internet connectivity and access.
5) Application
Applications open on July 2 and close on August 6, 2024, at 21:00 UTC. Applicants must register their organization in the Foundation’s grants management system, Fluxx, before the application window opens. The registration process can take up to two days. Applications must be submitted through the grants management system and can be in English, French, or Spanish.
