Description
1) Objective
The Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care, and Consumer Protection (BMSGPK) launches a special directive to combat poverty in third countries amidst escalating global crises. With an additional fund of 15 million euros, the objective is to support non-profit organizations in implementing sustainable projects aimed at alleviating the suffering of vulnerable populations in the global South. These crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic, armed conflicts, inflation, and climate change, have exacerbated poverty levels, necessitating urgent action. The directive seeks to foster development cooperation initiatives that address the root causes of poverty and empower communities to build resilience against future challenges, promoting equitable and sustainable development:
- Measures to meet basic socio-economic needs;
- Measures to improve individual health including health promotion and prevention;
- Ensuring the availability, access, quality and of care and health services;
- Social inclusion measures;
- Measures to promote a self-determined, non-discriminatory life of people with disabilities;
- Prevention and fight against gender-based violence, especially in the context of female poverty;
- Concrete material aid and support for the improvement of housing conditions, housing security or protection against the threat of homelessness and homelessness as well as subsidies for basic housing equipment;
- Measures to combat child poverty or to promote the health and well-being of children by improving their material and social participation;
- Measures for the social security of vulnerable and poverty-affected groups and for the expansion of social protection systems;
- Activities for the capacity development of public administration and other key stakeholders in partner countries (implementation of training, seminars and training for relevant target groups, i.e. social workers, public employees, civil society actors as well as vulnerable groups and persons affected by poverty themselves).
