Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) – Ecuador

Description

1) Objective

The CFLI is a program designed to support small-scale, high-impact projects in developing countries, which align with Global Affairs Canada’s thematic priority areas for engagement. The program is directed at projects conceived and designed predominantly by local partners. Projects are selected and approved by the relevant Canadian embassy or high commission. The CFLI also serves to support positive bilateral relations between Canada and recipient countries and their civil societies, by deepening contacts and supporting local endeavours.

All projects must align with at least one of the following CFLI thematic priorities:

• Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
• Inclusive governance, strengthen of democracy, human rights, the rule of law.
• Economic opportunities for all and human dignity.
• Environment notably water management and waste management.
• For the current CFLI cycle, preference will be given to projects implemented by, or involving significant participation of, Indigenous and/or Afro-Ecuadorian, people and organisations, or benefiting vulnerable populations in rural areas.

2) Eligibility

Organizations eligible for the CFLI are: (1) Non-governmental, community and not-for-profit organizations; (2) Local academic institutions working on local projects; and (3) International, intergovernmental, multilateral and regional institutions, organizations and agencies working on local development activities.

3) Location

Actions must take place in Ecuador.

4) Budget

On average, CFLI projects receive a contribution ranging from CAD $25,000 to CAD $40,000.

5) Application

The deadline for submission is March 10th, 2025, at 23:59 (GMT-5). Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered. Proposals must be submitted electronically to the following email: CFLI-FCIL.QUITO@international.gc.ca.
