Description
1) Objective
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) supports small-scale but high-impact and results-oriented projects in developing countries, which align with the six action areas that guide the Government of Canada’s international assistance. The program is directed at projects conceived and designed predominantly by local civil society organizations (CSOs) and other grassroots organizations.
All projects must align with the following CFLI thematic priorities:
- Thematic priority: Inclusive governance
- Focus areas: Increasing the meaningful participation of women, youth and other marginalized/vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, in political and governance processes. This includes initiatives that promote and protect their human rights, the rule of law, and enhance resilience.
- Efforts by civil society, institutions and local media/journalists to raise awareness about the nexus between illegal mining (galamsey), environmental degradation and radicalization, and garner stakeholder support to address these issues.
