Description
1) Objective
The NHC is pleased to announce a call for proposals funded by the European Union, aimed at strengthening civil society in five EU Member States: Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia and Portugal. This initiative seeks to empower Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working on women’s rights, environmental justice, and anti-corruption by enhancing their effectiveness, resilience, and visibility. By creating an enabling environment for these grassroots CSOs, the project aims to bolster the protection and promotion of EU values in these countries, ultimately contributing to the strengthening of EU values at the European level.
The NHC aims to provide grants to its partner civil society organisations and grassroots initiatives working in the field of women’s rights, environmental justice and anti-corruption, within the five countries of the project: Portugal, Slovenia, Romania, Croatia and Bulgaria.
2) Eligibility
Eligibility is limited to: (1) Registered civil society organisations’ working on the protection and promotion of EU values including on enhancing women’s rights, and/or environmental justice and/ or anti-corruption; (2) CSO’s upholding and respecting EU values in their work (such as respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and human rights, including the rights of minorities).
3) Location
Actions must take place in Portugal, Slovenia, Romania, Croatia and Bulgaria.
4) Budget
The NHC aims to provide up to 3 grants per target country (Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia and Portugal), each grant between €30,000 and €40,000. The project will have a duration between of 12 and 18 months.

Interested organisations are encouraged to apply online through the Smartsheet in English or their respective language no later than 22nd of October 2024.
