Description
1) Objective
The Habitat Foundation Research Grants are intended to strengthen our understanding of rainforest ecology and advance the conservation of priority species and habitat through improved conservation practice in Malaysia.
Proposals for the Research Grant should fulfil some or all of the following criteria:
- focus on species and habitat of conservation significance;
- seek to address an important conservation question or issue;
- have the potential to improve conservation practice or contribute to more effective conservation actions;
- be conducted in collaboration with local people, organizations and/or government partners.
2) Eligibility
The Research Grants are to be used primarily for the fieldwork component of higher degree study for a Masters or PhD or a pilot study by an early career conservation practitioner. The research should be conducted over a period of 12 – 20 months. The Grants typically cover field expenses, equipment, communications & awareness, and meeting costs. THF Research Grant recipients are required to contribute to the education & awareness programme at The Habitat Penang Hill and budget for these contributions within their proposed budget.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Malaysia.
4) Budget
The value of the Research Grant ranges from RM10,000 to a maximum of RM25,000.

Applicants are requested to submit a Concept Proposal by email to thf@habitatfoundation.org.my before 30 October 2021. Only shortlisted Concept Proposals will be invited to submit a full proposal.
