Description
1) Objective
The Prince Clause Fund provides quick help to evacuate, stabilise or rescue cultural heritage that is under imminent threat of destruction or that has been damaged by man-made or natural disasters through their Cultural Emergency Response programme (CER). They implement emergency relief actions in direct cooperation with local partners in the affected communities. Through CER, they also organise the training of heritage rescuers and the development of a network of experts who can facilitate quick response wherever needed.
CER exclusively offers financial means to implement “first aid” to cultural heritage and is not able to provide the total solution. Proposals can only be taken into consideration if they refer to a man-made or natural disaster or a conflict situation which caused a cultural emergency situation that requires immediate action. Proposals are only accepted if they refer to either concrete material needs, research missions for identifying cultural emergency relief actions, first aid training for salvaging culture or raising awareness about the damage to culture and heritage in an ongoing crisis.
2) Eligibility
The individuals and/or organisation coordinating and implementing the rescue effort must be based in the region they are applying from, and projects need to respect local contexts, priorities and traditions.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe. They prioritise vulnerable countries and communities in disaster and conflict-prone areas.
4) Budget
They offer small and flexible grants, usually ranging between €15,000 to €35,000, and can grant more when the urgency, scope and relevance of the situation justify it.
5) Application
Applications can be submitted anytime via their online application form. Application and reporting requirements are light and context sensitive.
