Description

1) Objective

The global objective of this call for proposals is: To improve water quality in the basin of Lake Kivu and Lake Tanganyika through sustainable and inclusive economic practices. The specific objectives of this call for proposals are:
1. Knowledge of the potential benefits of the circular economy among policy makers, businesses, consumers and civil society (which represents the population in all its diversity) is increased and applied in the different fields of activity specific to each stakeholder.
2. Inclusive circular economy models are tested and validated in different local conditions.

The priorities of this call for proposals are:
– The development of/ support to circular economy initiatives to reduce the polluting impact on the waters of the basin of Lakes Tanganyika and Kivu
– The spread of sustainable and inclusive economic practices that promote the socio-economic development of the countries bordering Lakes Tanganyika and Kivu.

2) Eligibility

In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must: (1) be a legal person and (2) be non-profit-making and (3) be a specific type of organisation such as: international non-governmental organisation, international organisation (intergovernmental) as defined by Article 156 of the EU Financial Regulation6, European Union Member State agency and (4) be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.

Actions must take place in Kenya.

4) Budget

The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is €12,000,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum €3,900,000 and maximum €4,000,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum (50%) and maximum (90%) percentage of total eligible costs of the action.

5) Application

The full proposal together with the declaration by the lead applicant must be submitted online via PROSPECT. The deadline for the submission is 30 November 2023.
