Description
1) Objective
The Direct Aid Program is a competitive small grants program funded by the Australian Aid program. Grants of up to 8000 pa’anga are available for proposals that can demonstrate a strong benefit to local communities in line with the priorities of the Australian Aid program in Tonga. In recent years, the Direct Aid Program in Tonga has supported projects including: (1) a community netball competition in ‘Eua; (2) a children’s playground next to the BSP carpark in Nuku’alofa; (3) community consultations on the rights of LGBTI people in Tonga; and (4) a school vegetable garden in Ha’alo.
In 2020-21, theyparticularly welcome proposals for projects that address the following needs: people with disabilities, women and girls, livelihoods, human rights, environment and climate change, community health, arts and culture, youth and social inclusion

Eligible applicants are non government organisations.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Tonga.
4) Budget
Grants of up to 8000 pa’anga (approx. $4,000) are available for proposals.
5) Application
Applicants need to complete the application form online. Applications for Round 1 close Friday 6 November, 2020; for Round 2 on 12 March 2021 and Round 3 on 28 May 2021.
