Description
1) Objective
Hazel’s Footprints Trust was established with an aim to support access to education for children in developing countries. We are interested in providing grants to a small number of projects each year. Funding should be for a specific educational purpose. It must be ring-fenced for either a capital project (e.g. classroom renovation) or for a named operational cost (e.g. a headteacher salary). Applications for general funds, feeding programmes and sponsorship of children will not be considered.
For all applications for capital projects, the grant requested from Hazel’s Footprints Trust must be at least 40% of the total project cost.
They fund via UK charity partners only and cannot accept applications directly from schools or projects in-country. Charities must be registered with the Charities Commission or the Scottish Charity Register (OSCR). Individuals applying for Footprinter volunteer grants will only be considered if they plan to volunteer for a minimum of six months in one location. The applicant organisation must have an average annual turnover for the past 3 years of under £200,000.
3) Location
Actions can take place in developing countries (i.e., they have funded in Ghana, Ethiopia, Vietnam).
4) Budget
Funding requested is no more than £25,000 (note that grants are typically between £2,000 and £15,000 and larger sums will only be considered in exceptional circumstances).
5) Application
They accept applications ahead of their twice-yearly Trustee meetings. They typically have two funding rounds each year – one in May/June and one in November/December. You must apply no later than mid-February and mid-August respectively to be considered at the next funding round. The application must be submitted via the online form available on their website.
