This development cooperation fund, managed by the Embassy, aims to support well-defined projects in democratic governance, peace, and security.
Specific outcome areas include enhancing accountability and transparency in democratic processes, protecting and advancing the rights of women and youth, and increasing citizen resilience against manipulation. The FLC seeks to improve governance, promote peace and security, and counter misinformation through practical, impactful projects.
2) Eligibility
Eligible applicants include local NGOs, civil society organizations, community-based organizations, and private sector entities registered in Kenya. Applicants must comply with local legislation and demonstrate experience and capacity in their proposed project areas. Ineligible entities include government ministries, unregistered organizations, political parties, and Finnish beneficiaries. Projects related to charity, humanitarian aid, donations, scholarships, and research are not supported.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Kenya.
4) Budget
The FLC provides grants with a maximum funding of EUR 200,000 for one project partner focusing on democratic governance, EUR 130,000 for a partner focusing on women in peace and security, EUR 80,000 for a partner focusing on youth in peace and security, and EUR 100,000 for a partner focusing on enhancing citizen resilience against manipulation. The duration of the grants is two years, and administrative costs should not exceed 8% of the total budget.
5) Application
The call for proposals opens on July 1, 2024, and closes on August 30, 2024, at 16:00 local Kenyan time.
