Description
1) Objective
StartSomeGood is a crowdfunding platform for broadly-progressive social impact projects and organisations. While their focus is on social entrepreneurship as a vehicle for creating change they support all forms of changemaking: entrepreneurial, advocacy and activism, community organising, research and information provision and inspiration. The Platform works with a ‘tipping point’ model, meaning that projects will receive funding once a minimum predefined budgetary goal has been reached. In case the project does not reach this goal, the funds will be returned to the investors. Besides the minimum tipping point, project may also have a ‘stretch goal’ which is the predefined maximum amount of funds required for a project.
2) Eligibility
Non-profit organisations and social business organisations can use the crowdfunding platform.
3) Location
Projects for funding can be launched worldwide.
4) Budget
The project funding varies depending on the type of organisation and need of the project. Typically crowdfunding volumes are rather low with $1,000-$20,000 per campaign.
5) Application
In order to submit a project to the Platform, applicants must create an account and provide all information that is going to be relevant for visitors, including the budgetary target. After the project has been submitted, applicants will receive personalized feedback and advice from the Platforms Global Support Team. After reviewing the project, applicants can launch their campaign and start collecting funds. The Platform charges a 5% service fee if the project reaches its funding goal. Another fee has to be payed to the chosen payment processing provider (e.g. PayPal or Stripe).
