Description
1) Objective
Giving Joy is a 501(c)(3) Massachusetts-based nonprofit that strengthens and inspires women’s entrepreneurship worldwide. It aims to empower women globally by providing financial grants to support their entrepreneurial ventures, nonprofit organizations, or community projects. The grants focus on initiatives that have a significant social impact on women, girls, and their families.
The program encourages innovative and creative proposals that extend beyond financial gain, emphasizing social benefits and community upliftment. By offering these grants, Giving Joy seeks to foster gender equality, economic empowerment, and community development through the direct support of women-led projects.
2) Eligibility
Women aged 18 and up are eligible to apply for a Giving Joy grant. Applicants do not need to own an existing business; the grant can be used to start a new business, expand an existing one, or launch or enhance a nonprofit, NGO, or charity. The key requirement is that the proposed activities must focus on benefiting women, girls, and families.
3) Location
Actions can take place across the globe.
4) Budget
Grants awarded by Giving Joy range from $250 to $500. The specific amount is determined based on the proposed activities and the availability of funding. The grant period is six months, during which recipients must implement their proposed projects.
5) Application
Applications are only accepted online through the Giving Joy website during the designated grant cycles. They have 2 annual grant cycles: (1) Spring Grant Round: 1 January – 30 April with anticipated award date in September; and (2) Summer Grant Round: 1 June – 31 July with anticipated award date at the beginning of the following year.
