Description

1) Objective

The Angus Lawson Memorial Trust (ALMT) is a registered children’s charitable trust striving to mitigate the suffering of the world’s most marginalised children. Priority is given to the following areas: (1) bereavement and palliative care for families, adults, children and young people; (2) projects/initiatives that enable disadvantaged or vulnerable children and young people to participate fully in society; (3) educational scholarships and learning support for children and young people.

They select projects that have clearly identified objectives where the outcomes can be monitored and evaluated. This ensures positive impact for beneficiaries and a high social return on any investment made by the Trust and its Donors. They do not consider applications requesting support for the following: construction, research, core salary and running costs.

2) Eligibility

Applicants must be registered charities or Charitable Incorporated Organisations with representation in the UK. Funding is prioritised for solicited applications from grassroots partners, which have an average annual income of no more than £1,000,000 over a five-year period.

3) Location

Actions can take place in UK and various countries worldwide (i.e., Nepal, Afghanistan, DRC, Madagascar, Rwanda, Kenya, Poland, Burundi, Bangladesh, Ukraine, Tanzania, South Africa, Moldova).

4) Budget

Organisations new to the ALMT can apply for an annual grant between £3,000-£25,000, though it should be noted that most grants are below this upper limit with an average of £14,500. Existing partners may be able to apply for up to 3 years funding.

5) Application

Grant submissions are in two stages. Applicants are encouraged to send all completed first stage applications to the following email address: admin(a)almt.org. The ALMT board of trustees meets to make decisions three times per year around February, June and October. Interested organisations should contact the ALMT with their project ideas so that the ALMT can assess
suitability prior to completing an application.
