Grants from Bydale Foundation

Description

1) Objective

Bydale Foundation is a charitable organisation in New York. In 1966, it received its exempt organisation status. The Foundation provides support for programs in the areas of the environment, social justice, women’s rights, and poetry. It also provides grants to human rights, peace advocacy and environmental organisations in Israel. Awards are extremely competitive and only a very small percentage of inquiries are funded.

The Isreal program focuses on the sectors of: (1) environment; (2) human rights; and (3) peace advocacy.

2) Eligibility

Israeli organisations are eligible to apply for their Israel program and are required to provide a US based fiscal sponsor in the application form. Awards are extremely competitive and only a very small percentage of Inquiry Application Forms are funded.

3) Location

Funding is provided to states within the USA and on an international scope to Israel.

4) Budget

Their total annual funding volume is below $1,000,000 (usually around $700,000) for an average of 50-60 grants (average grant size in the past has been around $15,000).

5) Application

Organisations seeking funding must complete the one-page inquiry application form. The Foundation usually has one application deadline around 1 August. When this deadline falls on a weekend, proposals are due on the previous business day. The inquiry application form should be emailed to bydale(a)bofa.com with the organisation name as the Re: line. Applicants are required not to include other documents or promotional material with the form. The Bydale Foundation office will contact the organisation when an inquiry application has been favourably reviewed and a full proposal is requested. Grant awards and declinations are usually mailed in late December.
