Description
1) Objective
Established in 2000, the Carrefour Foundation fulfills a mission of general interest in France and worldwide, advocating for access to healthy and sustainable food for the most vulnerable populations. Its commitment is based on 2 programs: the fight against food insecurity and nutritional education. It funds:
- Food insecurity: their aim is to provide the necessary funding to our partners in their transformation efforts: To improve the supply of food aid in terms of nutritional quality and taste; To reduce the environmental impact of the food aid system and promote virtuous circuits; and To Enable the strengthening and evolution of existing mechanisms.
- Nutritional education: they support projects that promote a change in food-related practices, targeting vulnerable populations. They are committed to supporting projects that have a lasting impact (1 year) and enable beneficiaries to develop a genuine awareness and ownership of the subjects.
- Solidarity Actions: The Carrefour Group also supports organizations combating food insecurity and assisting vulnerable children by implementing initiatives in stores, warehouses, and among its employees.
- Emergency aid: With the logistical support of the Carrefour Group, the Carrefour Foundation works to gather supplies and assist relief agencies in areas undergoing natural disasters or health emergencies.
2) Eligibility
Only projects in their focus countries which are linked to food are eligible for funding. Eligible for funding are local non-profit organisations and associations in the Foundation’s focus countries.
3) Location
The Foundation supports initiatives in countries where Carrefour operates: France, Italy, Spain, Romania, Poland, Brazil, Argentina and Belgium.
4) Budget
The Foundation has an annual budget of around €7,000,000 with which around 70 projects in all their focus countries are supported.
5) Application
Applications are open throughout the year and a project can be submitted via the Foundation’s online portal.
