Description

1)  Objective

The Domanada Foundation began in 1989 as a private Foundation devoted to leveraging its human and financial resources to advance the cause of Jesus Christ. The Foundation seeks to help identify and obtain the educational, human and financial resources necessary to support an organisation in accomplishing its mission. It runs a grant making program and provides matching grants. The primary purpose of a matching grant is not to fund a specific project or program, but rather to stimulate new giving to an organisation. In essence, the matching grant is best used as a fundraising tool to encourage new donors to become involved or to inspire existing donors to give more sacrificially.

The Foundation prefers to make grants when an organisation is just getting off the ground or when it is significantly expanding the scope of its ministry. Its focus areas include: (1) religion; (2) education and training; (3) leadership development and (4) justice and compassion. It does not provide grants for larger mission agencies or parachurch organisations, nor does it provide support for individuals or families.

2) Eligibility

The Domanada Foundation considers grant proposals from organisations that are: (1) christ-centered, with a primary focus on theological education, leadership development or issues of justice and compassion; (2) located in Central and Eastern Europe, where ongoing, face-to-face relationship is possible; (3) new, small or mid-sized; (4) requesting a grant proposal strategically designed to build the organization’s funding base, especially through matching grants or focused on specific projects with clearly defined goals; and (5) registered U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation.

3) Location

Eligible countries must be located in Central and Eastern Europe: Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia, Ukraine.

4) Budget

Project funding varies depending on the type of organisation and need of the project. Their international annual funding volume is on average $500,000. Funding shall not exceed 5% of an organization’s annual budget.

5) Application

The Domanada Foundation can make a final determination regarding a grant proposal when the following is submitted: (1) a concise grant proposal; (2) a one-page executive summary must accompany all proposals (please include a brief description of the ministry or organization, the amount of the request, and the specific use of the requested funds; (3) a copy of the organization’s current annual budget and list of the Board of Directors; (4) a copy of the organization’s IRS 501(c) 3 designation letter. There are no deadlines.
