Description
1) Objective
The Dr. Scholl Foundation was established by William M. Scholl, M.D., in 1947. It is a private, independent grant-making foundation for charitable purposes. The Foundation’s mission is to provide financial assistance to organisations committed to improving our world. The Dr. Scholl Foundation is dedicated to providing financial assistance to organizations committed to improving our world. Solutions to the problems of today’s world still lie in the values of innovation, practicality, hard work and compassion.
Grants are given to projects in the following areas: (1) education, (2) social service, (3) healthcare, (4) culture, and (5) environment. The majority of grants are made in the U.S., but financial support is also provided to international projects that work in these areas (for non U.S. grants, organisations known to the Board of Directors are more likely to receive grant funding).
2) Eligibility
Eligible for funding are usually organisations with a valid IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter (non-US-based organisations must complete a notarised affidavit).
3) Location
Outside the United States, projects are eligible for funding anywhere across the developing world where a board member has direct knowledge of non-U.S. applicants.
4) Budget
There is no limit to grant sizes; however, on average, their grants range from $5,000 to $25,000.
5) Application
Grants are considered on an annual basis. An application form can be submitted between October 1 and March 1 of the following year. All applications are acknowledged by email. Prospective grantees are notified in November and, if approved, grant payments are made in December of the grant year. The application form and instructions are available after October 1 each year online (registration required).
