Description
1) Objective
“Ein Herz für Kinder”, which started as a campaign for more traffic safety in Germany, soon became an international charity organisation. The organisation’s mission is to support children and families in need. While their main focus is on Germany, the organisation also provides financial support for projects across the globe.
These may include initiatives for children who are victims of wars or hit by natural disasters, or when there is lack of medical care services for children in need. Other focus areas of their work are education and poverty reduction. They also runs annual awards to honour outstanding non-profit organisations (mostly German-based organisations).
2) Eligibility
Eligible to receive funding are non-profit organisations (incl. health and educational institutions) across the globe.
3) Location
There are no defined focus countries and financial support is provided where the need arises (e.g. natural disasters). They currently fund projects in Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
4) Budget
They fund around 30 international projects per year, and individual grant sizes range between €50,000 and €1,000,000 per project.
5) Application
Applications may be submitted throughout the year and applicants may use their own templates. This can be sent to their email address at bildhilft(a)ehfk.de and shall include the name, age, date of birth and diagnosis of the child and what is needed or the name of the institution that is concerned and what exactly support is needed for. After receiving the message, they will get back to the applicant. Please note that the processing time can be several weeks.
