Description

1) Objective

In 2002, the Urbis Foundation was founded by the family Epp in Munich, Germany. The reason for their commitment was the family’s wish to contribute to the protection of our climate and environment. The charitable foundation Urbis Foundation supports projects in the area of renewable energies (solar electricity, solar thermal, biomass). Sponsorship is offered to projects who promote access to environmentally friendly energy in regions lacking a large-scale energy supply. The main focus of sponsorship is the use of renewable energies in the following areas: health care, education, solar  institutions as well as agriculture.

To apply for funding, a project has to comply with the following requirements: (1) Focus of project content on renewable energies (solar power, solar thermal, biomass); (2) Regional focus on Sub-Saharan Africa (especially East Africa) or Eastern Europe; (3) Sustainability of the project is highlighted. Moreover, they consider projects that have an additional focus on gender and the promotion of women as especially eligible.

2) Eligibility

Sponsorship is offered to projects implemented by non-profit organisations, facilities and corporations. The non-profit status must fulfil the legal requirements by the country of origin and align with the German legal nonprofit requirements.

3) Location

Actions must take place in Sub-Sahara Africa (especially East Africa) and Eastern Europe.

4) Budget

Proposed grants must be at least €500 and at most €10,000. Projects supported must be completed within two years’ time.

5) Application

Applications have to be sent via E-Mail to info(a)urbis-foundation.de. The application must include the filled in application form, a coherent financial plan and, if available, a project plan. In consideration of the numerous applications, that they have already received, they are unfortunately no longer accepting applications for 2020. Only the first 30 applications received will be evaluated. The next possibility to apply for funding is between 15.08.2021 and 30.09.2021.
