Description

1) Objective

The IKI Large Grants address current challenges in climate change mitigation, adaptation to the impacts of climate change and biodiversity conservation every year. The respective thematic priorities are based on decisions arising from international negotiations conducted under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

The priority areas also reflect the strategic objectives and geographical focus for the funding programme as outlined in the “Strategy of the International Climate Initiative up to 2030”.

2) Eligibility

Participation in the ideas competition of IKI Large Grants is open to the following organisations: Non-governmental organisations; Universities and research institutions; International intergovernmental organisations and institutions such as development banks; United Nations organisations and programmes; Implementing organisations of the Federal Republic of Germany; Commercial enterprises.

3) Location

Actions can take place worldwide in OECD DAC countries.

4) Budget

The funding amount is €5 to €20 million.

5) Application

The call for project ideas of the IKI Medium Grants is open until 17 February 2026. In this first selection stage, the IKI online platform is open for the submission of project outlines. Project outlines can only be submitted via the IKI online platform in English.
