Description
1) Objective
The EU project INCiTiS-FOOD seeks to establish Local Innovation Hubs (LIHs) to promote sustainable agriculture and food technologies across six African countries. The goal is to encourage resource-efficient, circular agricultural practices in urban and peri-urban areas, focusing on innovations like hydroponics, aquaponics, insect farming, and bioponics. These technologies aim to optimize land use, minimize waste, and address food security challenges as urban populations grow.
The call invites innovative solutions in areas such as sustainable farming methods, urban waste recycling, and alternative sources of protein, contributing to the development of sustainable agri-food systems. Selected projects will receive financial support to implement these solutions, fostering collaboration among civil society organizations, universities, and SMEs to drive forward sustainable practices in agriculture.
2) Eligibility
Eligible applicants include small consortia of two to three organizations such as civil society organizations (CSOs), NGOs, cooperatives, universities, start-ups, and small to medium enterprises (SMEs). The focus is on innovative solutions related to sustainable agriculture, such as aquaponics, hydroponics, and insect farming.
3) Location
The call is open to proposals from six African countries: Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, and Gabon.
4) Budget
Each selected project can receive funding of up to €117,500.
5) Application
Applications must be submitted in English via the INCiTiS-FOOD Open Call Hub by 20 March 2025, 17:00 CET.
