Description
1) Objective
The U.S. Mission to Namibia, through the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), is offering grants aimed at preventing new HIV infections and supporting young men to know their status and access treatment if needed. The program is specifically focused on engaging adolescent boys (14-24 years old), young men (25-29 years old), and men aged 30+ to address risky sexual behaviors and promote male-friendly sexual reproductive health activities. Proposals must include at least two of these focus areas. Additionally, the initiative seeks to combat gender-based violence (GBV), recognizing its role in the spread of HIV among these populations.
The goal is to foster community-based interventions that encourage healthy practices and reduce risky behaviors that contribute to the transmission of HIV. However, the program will not fund HIV medicines, diagnostics, or services, nor will it support construction, office equipment, or sports equipment for national teams. This is an opportunity for nonprofits and individuals to contribute to a critical public health effort in Namibia.
Eligible applicants include nonprofits with or without 501(c)(3) status, as long as they are not institutions of higher education, as well as individual applicants.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Namibia.
4) Budget
The grant has an award ceiling of $16,000 and an award floor of $2,800. The estimated total program funding has not been specified.
5) Application
The closing date for applications is September 16, 2024.
