Description
1) Objective
The U.S. Embassy Tirana, Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce funding opportunities are available through its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program. This is an Annual Program Statement, outlining our funding priorities, the strategic themes we focus on, and the procedures for submitting requests for funding.
Purpose of Small Grants: PAS Tirana welcomes proposals for programs that strengthen ties between the U.S. and Albania through cultural and exchange programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. All programs must include an American cultural element, or connection with American expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives.
Examples of PAS Small Grants Program programs include, but are not limited to:
- Combating corruption
- Promote entrepreneurship and economic development
- Improve English language education and skills
- Support independent and professional media
- Inspire young leaders to take ownership for improving society
- Support American values, in particular human rights and social inclusion of vulnerable populations, civil rights, and religious freedom
- Build public support for Albania’s efforts to become a stronger NATO ally
2) Eligibility
The Public Affairs Section encourages applications from Albanian (or in specific cases U.S.) organizations and individuals with a proven track record of executing superior events and programs. Proposals that demonstrate the long-term sustainability of the project, and those organizations that are able to provide significant cost sharing will receive priority.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Albania.
4) Budget
Grants generally range between $1,000 and $15,000.
5) Application
The Public Affairs Section will accept proposals throughout the year and will review proposals according to the following schedule: Proposals received between October 1 and November 30 will be reviewed by December 15, with responses going out by December 20; Proposals received between December 21 and February 28 will be reviewed by March 15, with responses going out by March 20; Proposals received between March 21 and May 31 will be reviewed by June 15, with responses going out by June 20; Proposals received between June 21 and August 31 will be reviewed by September 15 with responses going out by September 20. Proposals should be submitted in English via email to tiranapdresources@state.gov with the subject line, “Grant Application: Name of Proposal”.
