Description
1) Objective
The Marang LGBTIQ Fund is a regional initiative funded by the European Union aimed at supporting LGBTIQ-led and focused organisations in Botswana, Lesotho, Mauritius, Madagascar, and Namibia. The fund provides grants of up to €50,000 over two years to help organisations build safe, inclusive environments; strengthen the LGBTIQ movement; challenge harmful social norms; and advocate for legal and policy reform.
The Fund is managed by Gender Links and Botswana Network on Ethics, Law, HIV and AIDS (BONELA).This fund aligns with the broader goals of promoting human rights, inclusion, and dignity, and contributes to creating stronger, more resilient LGBTIQ communities across Southern Africa.
2) Eligibility
To be eligible for funding, organisations must: Be legally registered, or apply through a legally registered fiscal host, as a non-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO) or community-based organisation (CBO) in Botswana, Lesotho, Mauritius, Namibia, or Madagascar; Be LGBTIQ-led and/or have a clearly defined LGBTIQ rights mandate; Be able to demonstrate a track record of serving LGBTIQ persons as its core target population; Operate primarily at the national or community level, with strong connections to LGBTIQ communities.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Botswana, Lesotho, Mauritius, Madagascar, and Namibia.
4) Budget
Grants may range up to €50,000.
