Description
1) Objective
South African Women’s Rights organisations are invited to apply for funding under the Government of Canada’s Renewed Women Voice and Leadership-South Africa Fund (WVL SA). The initiative arises from Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP). The multi-year core grants all include a component of movement building. Grantees will receive diversity, finance, governance, communications for social change and climate justice capacity building for management and staff.
Themes are: Challenging social norms; Climate Change and Sustainable Development; Economic power; Education; Gender Based Violence including mental health; Governance; Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex (LBTQI+), Peace and Security; Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights and Women’s Rights more broadly. Applicants may also propose any other theme areas related to gender justice, provided these are well motivated.
2) Eligibility
This window targets organisations with an annual income of less than R1,5 million annually. Organiations must be based on feminist principles; be women-led and must explicitly include gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in their mandate and programming
3) Location
Actions must take place in South Africa.
4) Budget
Multi-year core grants of up to R1.3 million for organisations with an annual income of over 1.5 million per annum.
