Description

1) Objective

Ember Call Out 2024 seeks applications from community-based mental health initiatives in low- and middle-income countries. Ember, an initiative formed through collaboration between the SHM Foundation and the Mental Health Innovation Network, aims to support these initiatives through a 12-month partnership. The goal is to strengthen the sustainability and growth of these organizations by providing tailored support based on their specific needs. This support includes collaborative assessment, customized strategies, visibility and networking opportunities, team wellbeing support, and a financial stipend.

Ember’s approach is rooted in collaboration, respect, and mutual learning, ensuring that each partnership is unique and tailored to the needs of the organization. The partnership also offers the possibility of financial investment after the initial 12-month period. Ember’s commitment to community-level mental health initiatives is based on the belief that these organizations provide invaluable insights and play a crucial role in addressing global gaps in mental health care and awareness. By supporting these initiatives, Ember aims to drive positive social change and contribute to the global mental health landscape.

2) Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must work in mental health, be based in a low- or middle-income country, engage directly with communities, be locally led, have a team of more than one person, include at least one English, Spanish, or Arabic speaker, and not discriminate based on religion, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, race, or ability. Faith-based organizations may apply.

3) Location

Actions can take place worldwide in OECD DAC countries.

4) Budget

Successful applicants receive a financial stipend of £6,000 GBP for the year, provided in two installments. Additionally, there is a potential for further financial investment post the 12-month partnership if selected by the Ember Working Group and the SHM Foundation board.

5) Application

Applications are open until 6pm BST on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024. The application process consists of three rounds: initial submission, review and feedback, and final selection. Applicants must submit a short online form, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Final decisions will be communicated by mid-December 2024, and partnerships will formally begin in January 2025.
