Description
1) Objective
The Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water (PSIPW) is an international award focusing on water-related scientific innovation and judged by leading scientists from around the world. The Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water (PSIPW) is a scientific prize with a focus on innovation. Established in 2002 by HRH Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz, it rewards the efforts made by scientists, inventors and research organisations around the world which contribute to the sustainable availability of potable water and the alleviation of the escalating global problem of waterscarcity. To this end, PSIPW awards a suite of five biennial prizes, covering the entire water research landscape. In this way, PSIPW encourages research to find solutions to the various water-related challenges facing the world today.
Five prizes are bestowed every two years. They include: (1) a Creativity Prize is open to all pioneering and innovative research in any water-related field. The work should provide an original solution which is useful to society and contribute to development and social upliftment, while being practical, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective and (2) four Specialized Prizes- each of the four Specialised Prizes is dedicated to the wide range of research topics that fall within its scope namely: Surface water prize, Undergroud water prize, Alternative water resources prize, Water Management & Protection Prize.
2) Eligibility
Universities, university departments, research institutes, companies, and agencies can nominate individuals and teams of researchers for this Prize.
3) Location
Support is provided to organisations and research institutions from around the world.
4) Budget
The Creativity Prize has the value of $266,000 is by nomination only. Each of the four specialized prizes is worth $133,000.
5) Application
All nominations for the 9th Award of the Prize are to be made online through an electronic application form that is available on the PSIPW website. All required documentation and submitted works will be uploaded by way of the same form. Deadline for receiving nominations 31 December 2022.
